This will give me a stock quote for today’s date. How do I get a quote from a past date. Like Jan 4, 2001 ?
After you have put in a ticker symbol, look at the left side of the site. Under Quotes, click on Historical Prices. You can specify a date range and get the prices on those dates.

Is it possible to get a quote for gold and other metals using a stock quote service and what is the symbol?
you know, like you would enter YHOO or GOOG to get the stock quote (value) at any time….
that doesnt work. those symbols represent some kind of stocks, i just tried it.
that 2nd answer is completely irrelevant to my question. DUH! i know i can get quotes for gold in the paper and a million sources, but i want to get it using a stock quote system like Google SMS or something similar…. after a couple weeks it looks like you cannot do that. i’ll give it a few more days. thanks though
Yes they are commodities, the local daily news paper will have it. Not a good investment though i tell you right now
